'Fallas' are, "Magnificent, fabulous", giant papier mache sculptures/charicatures of polititians, artists, footballers, etc. Always humorous and beautiful this amazing 5 day Art Fiesta ends with a dramatic 'crema', or festival of fire, a dramatic burning of the fallas.

• Les Falles - March 15 - 19
Las Fallas, magnificos monumentos de carton y madera, represetan, con buen humor, escenas de la vida cotidiana de los olivenses. Los 'ninots' so la caricatura de politicos, artistas, amantes, futbolistas y todo un sinfin de personajes que sin querer se ven reflejados en la falla. Fallas infantiles y mayores son premiadas por su gracia e ingenio, por su bello y artistico colorido y por la monumentalidad de sus caricaturescas esculturas. Las falleras, sierpre sontrientes, realzan su belleza con sus hermosos y ricos trajes, entre musica y cohetes. Y llegas la noche magica de la 'crema' donde el fuego es el protagonista principal de un mundo de fantasia envuelto en llamas.

• Holy Week/Easter Week
Easter week in Oliva is pure tradition from special 'mones de Pasqua' pastries and breads at the bakeries, lovely Palm Sunday on the Paseo to Good Friday on the mountain of Santa Ana at Dawn, an emotional and beautiful congregation.

Semana Santa (Holy Week). A series of processions with hooded penitents who sometimes move to the piercing wail of the saeta, a love song to the Virgin or Christ. Pasos (heavy floats) bear images of the Virgin or Christ. Easter is a major time for fiestas and there is something going on almost every day. • La Semana Santa
La Semana Santa en Oliva es uica por tener el sello del las mas antiquas tradiciones. El Domingo de Ramos el peublo entero se llena de palmas y ya se pueden comprar las monas de Pascua: dulce de raices arabes. El Viernes Santo, al alba, miles de personas se concentran en la montana de santa Anna para asistir al Via Crucis. La belleza de la surora, el magnifico paisaje, las imagenes que se vislumbran, los canticos y plegarias...acaban por porvocar una emocion entensa entre los presentes. Al atardecer se celebra El Desenclavamierno representacion lirico-religiosa que se remonta as 17th C, y la procesion del Santo Entierro. Durante la semana siguiente, en la calle San Vincente, se celebran en la calle cenas y verbenas al anochecer.

• Fiesta Cristo de San Roc May 1-3
This historical, interesting Fiesta celebrated in Oliva since the 17th century opens with a lively procession through Old Town Oliva. During the Fiesta a mass is celebrated in San Roc Church steps from Oliva Rental House, in the beautiful Baroque chapel of the Christ. In the streets the whole family can enjoy Fiestas, music, dancing and exciting Pelota Valenciana matches in the streets of the old Town.

• Fiesta Cristo de San Roque - 1 - 3
Las fiestas del Cristo se San Roque se celebran desde el s.XVII, tierpo en que los moriscos fueron obligado a convertirse al cristianismo. El pregon, con los festeros vestidos a la vieja usanza, anuncia las fiesta por toda la ciudad. En la capilla del Cristo, considerada joya del Barroco por la simbologia y belleza de las pinturas que cubren su boveda central, se celebra la novena. En la calle hay fiesta para todos y se pueden admirar los monumentos florales de las Cruces de Mayo. La Fiesta finaliza con una solemne procesion en honor al Santismo Cristo.

• Festes Majors d'Oliva/Oliva Fair - 3rd week/end in June - (2010 June 18, 19, 20)
A fun family Fiesta to celebrate enjoying life! The traditional 'Tio de la Porra' a comedic brass band parades through the Town to open the fiesta. Antiguamente en Oliva, la feria era una reunion anual de mercaderes y negociantes de toda clase realizada para llevar a cabo ventas e intercambios comerciales. las neuvas formas de intercamvio comercial han hecho que desaparecieran sus funciones comerciales y la parte de la fiesta y diversion que la acompanaba se ha convertido en su unica razon de ser. Se ha recuperado el Tio de la Porra, especial banda de musica de charanga que da inicio a las fiestas de Oliva. Durante usa semana se instala la Feria del Motor, acompanade de una gran feria de atracciones que hace las delicias de ninos y jovenes.

• Moors and Christians Fiesta - 3rd week of July (2010 July 16, 17, 18, 19)
Everyone enjoys the, "Awesome, Amazing", four day Moors and Christians Fiesta. This unique, historical regal and elegant costumed battle re-enactment dating back to the 15th century takes place over Oliva town during the third week of July. A great spectacle of marching, blood curdling battles, fantastic mounted troops in full costume. Starting on the beach with The Grand Entrance you will see the Moors (the 'Followers Of The Half Moon') landing and taking over. The great battle ensueshand to hand fighting through the town, blunderbusters and cannons firing to a dramatic occupation of the castle and triumphant re-conquest by the Christians. • Moros i Cristians - 3rd setmana de Juliol (2010 Julio 16, 17, 18, 19)
En Moros y Christianos, se goza del la fiesta durante curatro dias al compas de las musica en la calle y en la cavilas. El viernes, Dia de la Entrada, desfilan moros y cristiano que con sus ornamentados trajes nos ofrecen un espectaculo de musica, danzas, luchas, carrozas, escuadras de cavallos...Al amanecer, se acude a la playa para presenciar el Desembarco. El la orilla, tiene lugar la gran balalla de arcabuceria, venciendo los seguidores de la media luna. para terminar la fiesta asistiremos a la reconquista cristiana. Los comaientes dispararaan los arcavuces con furor hasta que el capitan crisiano ocupe el castillo. Unespectacular castillo de fuegos artificiales es el broche de luz y polvora de la fiesta.

• Fiesta de la Virgin del Rebollet - 1-8
Every year the people of Oliva celebrate the Fiestas of the mary 'Rebollet', their patron saint. The Fiesta starts at Santa Maria Square (minutes walk from Oliva Rental house) where every pilgrim chooses a cane from which they hang a pumpkin as was the historic custom. The Virgin (Mare de Deu del Rebollet from the 12th-13th century is the oldest image of the Virgin Mary in Valencia) is taken out of its resting place and a procession follows. On arrival at the Rebollet (Oliva) castle there is a Dawn mass to celebrate ending with a shared meal of fruit and drinks. This Fiesta is a beautiful display of devotion and joy. Like Christmas Eve, Christmas Day in Spain is traditionally a family day - couples will normally spend Christmas Eve with one set of parents and Christmas Day with the other. However, in recent years more and more people have started eating in restaurants on Christmas Day. Restaurants advertise their Christmas menu well in advance. It is usually possible to book up to the morning of the 24th. By the evening of the 25th, most shops and bars are open again and these days more and more youths have started going out on the town. Two days with the family is enough to drive the kids out of the house!

• January 6 - Dia de Los Reyes is virtually as important as Christmas itself in Spain, especially for kids, as this is the day when they get their presents! The fun starts the evening before, when the three kings lead their procession through the streets, throwing sweets to the children. The next morning, the children wake up to find their presents have been left overnight. Everyone also eats Roscón, a sweet, donut-shaped bread (though much bigger than a donut) covered in glacier cherries and sugar. A plastic toy is buried inside the mixture, so don't dive in too quickly. He or she who finds the toy gets good luck for the next year (double the luck if they also ate the grapes on New Year's Eve!)

• Porrats - February 3rd
Porrats is a Medieval market fair in honor of San Antonio del Porquet held annually on February 3rd in the Moorish quarter of Oliva. Easy walk from Oliva Rental House to enjoy all the fun of the unique market selling traditional 'dulces' or sweets. Look out for the traditional 'caldera', a local vegetable stew cooked outside in cast iron cauldrons on Sant Vincent Street, minutes away on foot from Oliva Rental House!

Els porrats tienen sus origenes en la epoca medieval. Son ferias donde se exhiben tod tip de dulces imaginable. La fiesta en honor de Sant Antonio de porquet comienza con el mercade medieval en el imcomparable marco de arrabal morisco. Una de las curiosidades de la fiesta es la degustacion de las tradiciounales 'calderes' que contituyen todo un espectaculo en la calle San Vincent. la llamada ruta dels porrats, nos ofercera la oportunidad de conocer las atractivas tradiciones de nuestros pueblos.
